Make it a Habit: How To Consume Media Critically and Carefully

    July 22, 2019 /

As we get closer to the 2020 election and potential presidential candidates are out campaigning, we are sure to start hearing conflicting stories, dissenting opinions, and mudslinging (something that has happened for hundreds of years in politics). I am someone who works in media (broadcast, and now formerly print) and consumes media, I can confidently say that how we consume media and where we get it is important to how we form opinions and arguments (which are not the same thing BTW). Something I hear all the time in class, at work, and in social settings is that the media is evil and has an agenda. While yes there is…

    I Graduated College? Now what?

    July 16, 2019 /

I haven’t posted since April, which is quite a long time, but I have my reasons and I also know that those reasons are no longer an issue. So back in June, I walked in commencement and “graduated.” I didn’t actually graduate. But I will! I hadn’t completed an internship yet so I technically couldn’t graduate at commencement, but I am completing my internship over this summer and will graduate upon its completion in August. When I first started college I wanted to graduate in four years without taking summer terms. Well, that didn’t happen. I’m a little over five years in (not counting the college courses I took in…

    My Favorite Things about Fall

    November 17, 2018 /

Fall used to be my favorite season because it’s cozy, colorful, and very rarely will the weather inconvenience you. Recently, I’ve been enjoying Winter the most. I crave the juxtaposition of cozy life inside while its cold and uncomfortable outside. There’s nothing more inviting than being warm and happy inside while it’s dark, cold, and snowy outside. But I digress. Where I live, we get summer and winter. Spring doesn’t exist and fall is extremely short most years. Since fall is fleeting, I feel like I need to enjoy it as long as I can. Now that we are halfway through November, I thought I might share some of my…

Oregon Coast Road Trip With my Best Friend

    September 15, 2018 /

Sorry this is late! I meant to post this yesterday, but I hand’t realized how much work it was going to be to polish up my notes and get it ready to be published. Last Friday I took the cats to the vet for boarding, locked up my house, and loaded up the car for an Oregon Coast Road Trip with my best friend. Before Summer began, Kayla and I decided we wanted to go on vacation again. We met during the Paris trip I went on last year. We originally planneda 10 day trip with a meticulous itinerary from Astoria, Oregon to Cambria, California. After discussing this with my…
